Create Your Own Web Server in Windows, IIS

Want to create your own web server? I mean web server yes. That is using Windows IIS to create your own web server? Many corporate companies are also hosting their websites in Windows server IIS (Internet Information Server).

Its simple, just click on the administrative tool, next click on the IIS icon. 

After that you will see the IIS webserver console screen. You should see the default IIS website there. Right click on it and select properties. Click on the document tab. Next browse to your html pages or if you want to test it. Just browse to a folder in your server with some test files. You can create a test web file e.g. test.htm or test.asp or test.html. 

How to create this file? Just open up your notepad and then type in a few sentences like "Hello World!". Then save it as a .htm extension or any of the website extensions I mentioned above.

Next open up your internet browser (IE or Firefox) and type in http://127.0.0.1/test.htm and you should "Hello World"in your internet browser.

That's it, you had created your file website! This is what you called a static page. In order to create a dynamic page, you will need to use .asp .aspx or other dynamic web page languages. You can also use .php in IIS. But you will need to install the plugin for IIS to let it also serve .php pages.

• After that you can add in plugins to addon more functions to your website e.g. add on a Star Rating system, add on an online forum, add on a statistic counter, etc
