You can set and fine tune your Windows server and desktop settings to speed up your Windows desktop or Servers' operating speed

Where can you fine tune your Windows operating systems? Click on Start --> run --> type "regedit" without the double quotes

You will see the registry edit page. Next to do a registry backup. click on File --> Export to save your registry backup onto your laptop. You need to do this before you edit your registry settings or parameters. If anything went wrong just click on File --> Import and then select your backuped registry file. And your original registry settings will be restored back. alternately, you can just double click on your backuped registry file to restore back your original registry settings.

The next important command in the registry edit tool is the "Find" function. You can click on Edit --> Find to start your search for a particular key and then check its parameter. Either to turn it on or off.

If in your company's network you allow remote registry access. You can help to support your users by remotely accessing their registry. Click on File --> Connect Network Registr, but in order to be able to do this, you will need to check if your corporate firewall does not block port 139, 445.

Do this by opening up your command prompt (Click Start --> run --> type "cmd" without the double quotes). Next enter the following:-

telnet IPaddressOfUser 139

telnet IPaddressOfUser 445

If you see a blank screen then you are ok. If you see a connection error message or connection time out then most likely your ports are blocked.
