How to choose pc, laptop, desktop CPU, Memory, HDD configuration and How to buy and choose a laptop or desktop

How do you select and buy a laptop you like? How do you select a CPU speed for your laptop or desktop? How do you select your memory for your laptop or desktop?

Do you have these questions in mind when you go to your centralize laptop, pc, computer center/plaze? With so many pc, laptop and computer shops blasting your with their advertisements! How do you choose which system, pc, laptop or desktop to buy?

Here's how to choose your CPU and Memory.

  1. You should know your budget, if you can effort more than go for Intel CPU processor chips. If not then go for AMD CPU processor chips
  2. You should also know what your laptop or desktop is going to be used for? Example gaming, normal office works, graphics?
  3. If you dont mind the speed then you can go for slower CPU chips like T series chip sets (Intel), If you want more processing power than go for P series CPU chip sets.
  4. Next are you going for Intel Centrino Core 2 CPU processors? or 1 Core normal CPU(Old), or you need more processor powers like Quad Core (2xDuo Core)
  5. When selecting CPU you also need to take note of its L2 Cache and FSB (Front Side Bus), Your PC shop vendor must be able to advice you on this CPU specifications. The L2 Cache or Level 2 cache is a temp high speed memory where your data are cached or stored, and whenever your CPU need to access data from the main memory. It will look for it in this L2 cache memory first. Before going to get it from your main RAM memory.
  6. Therefore the higher speed your L2 cache memory, the faster your CPU data access speed your laptop or desktop will get.
  7. Next is the FSB (Front Side Bus) This is the connection/connector between your CPU (Due Core, Quad Core, etc) and your Memory controller. The faster the access speed of your FSB, the faster your data will be access and transfered.

Next is how to select your memory

  1. Memory will be easier, currently there are DDR2 ram, if you are using Windows Vista OS, then I will recommend minimum 2GB RAM. As recommended RAM for Windows Vista to operate is 1GB RAM.
  2. The better memory option will beto buy DDR3 ram. As this is the latest ram technology.

That's it, a simple CPU, IT article on CPU and Memory selection.

Make sure you also know what is Duo Core and Quad Core technology for both Intel and AMD CPU chip sets!
